Open TAR, TAR.GZ, TGZ, TAR.BZ2, TAR.XZ and TAR.ZST files in your browser. List the contents or extract up to 100 files, from archives up to 100 MiB.
Compression shrinks data by writing repeated patterns once. Each format makes a different trade between speed and size: LZ4 and Snappy favor speed, zstd and Brotli balance speed and ratio, and gzip is the one almost every system can read.
The codec tools compress and decompress single files and streams in gzip, zlib, raw DEFLATE, Brotli, Zstandard, LZ4, bzip2 and Snappy, for files up to 2 GiB in your browser.
For archives, the unzip and TAR tools list and extract the files inside a .zip or a .tar.gz. Unzip also opens password-protected ZIP files.
